Use Any Journal to Plan Your Week
Plan Your Best Week Using Any Notebook
I often get the Sunday scaries during the school year. Sometimes, I even get summertime Sunday scaries just because my system-body and mind-have become accustomed to expecting what the coming week will hold. One strategy that always helps whatever level of scaries I am dealing with is the organization and planning of my upcoming week. I have planned my weeks for a long time now on Sundays. It has become a Sunday morning tradition where I will look to the week ahead as a fresh start, a way to get ahead, or just a way to find some time to relax. This post contains a quick Youtube tutorial that shows you 3 different examples on how to plan your week. You will also find some more weekly layout examples in this blog post and detailed directions on how to use any notebook or journal to plan your best week.
Step 1: What System Will You Use?
Once you have taken a moment to look at the elements slides and the video, your first decision is what system you want to use in order to plan your week. The video showed 3 different ways to set up your notebook:
Creative layouts that are drawn that include many elements
Pre-printed or planned layouts like the Passion Planner system (Or really any planning system available at any large store)
Simple minimal written-out design
If you are short on time or new to journaling as your planning tool, you may want to try a more simple design and see what elements are needed throughout your week. The goal here is to get everything that is swirling around your mind about what you have to get done down on paper so you can also plan for the things you want to do or need to do for self-care, wellness, and stress relief. There are pros and cons to each system. Choose the system that you think will be best for your lifestyle and time availability.

Step 2: Trial and Error
When you decide on a system to use, try it out! I like to often change it up from week to week. You may want to try a new morning routine one week or jumpstart a fitness routine the next week. If you are short on time, try a pre-printed layout. You may want to try daily or monthly planning if weekly planning doesn’t work for you. Some people need to take things day-by-day, while others can operate from a bird’s view and feel organized by seeing a month-at-a-glance. Try out things that work and get rid of the things that don’t work for planning your schedule.
