Review the Sterling Ink B6 Undated Common Planner & Moterm B6+ Planner Cover
Fall sometimes makes me want to feel renewed with all of the change that is taking place. My Daily Journal system consisted of setting up all of my layouts at the beginning of the notebook and then using the rest of the notebook for my daily pages, journaling, and notes for meetings. The main problem I kept running into was that I was spending all of this time creating the notebook I wanted, and then I only had about 75 pages or so to last for journaling and note-taking.
Does anyone else get nervous when their notebook runs out of pages?
I do. As someone who values a planner that doubles as a notebook, the Sterling Ink B6 Undated Common Planner has become a staple in my planning routine. I have always been a person that has been a fan of a few brands that have truly amazing products, but for this, I wanted to try something new. This includes also trying the Moterm B6+ Planner Cover.
Here's a closer look at what makes each of these products work for me.

100+ Ideas for Any Blank Notebook
Sterling Ink B6 Undated Common Planner
Size & Portability:
At B6 size (128mm x 186mm), this planner is a perfect middle ground. It's compact enough to carry around daily, yet spacious enough for serious planning and journaling. The 52 gsm Tomoe River paper is thin, but strong, meaning you get 520 pages without the bulk. It’s perfect for those who love to pack a lot into their planner. I was hesitant about the gsm of the paper, but it has held true to minimal ghosting and being really able to be writeable.
Layout & Functionality:
What I love most about the Sterling Ink Common Planner is its well-thought-out combination of planning tools and note-taking space. You get:
4 blank spreads for vision boards, a word of the year, or an index—ideal for getting creative and staying focused.
14 undated monthly spreads and 53 undated weekly spreads (vertical layout) make it adaptable to any start date and time.
369 blank grid pages with page numbers! This means I can use it not only for planning but also as a journal, scribbling notes, brainstorming ideas, or reflecting on the day.
The inclusion of so many blank pages gives me the flexibility to plan out my life while using the extra pages for thoughts, ideas, and notes. It feels like a true planner-notebook hybrid that lets me combine everything I need in one place.
Paper Quality:
The Tomoe River paper is fantastic for fountain pen users—thin but surprisingly resistant to ghosting. One thing to keep in mind: sticky notes or stickers need to be applied with care, as they can cause the pages to warp. But with some pressure from the closed planner, the pages return to flat. This planner really shines in its versatility and aesthetic, with optional gilded edges for that extra touch of elegance.
Overall Experience:
It’s been a game-changer for someone like me who wants everything in one place. I appreciate how it allows me to combine structure with the freedom of journaling. The planner is soft-covered, so it’s light and flexible, which I appreciate for on-the-go use. The minimal design also feels timeless and refined. It really feels like I can use this planner for longer than the 2-3 month time period of the other notebooks I have used in the past. I am looking forward to seeing how long the extra 369 pages will last me through the beginning and middle of the new year.
Moterm B6+ Planner Cover
Design & Protection:
The Moterm B6+ planner cover in pebbled leather adds a layer of protection to my planner while also elevating its look. I chose burnt orange, but it really feels like a tan to me. The leather feels supple, and the cover provides ample protection from daily wear and tear. Since I toss my planner into my bag frequently, this cover has been essential in keeping it from getting scratched or bent. I also have a toddler who will frequently want to be a writer, so the cover has to hold up to wear and tear. It is good to mention that this cover is more affordable to mid-range in terms of planner covers, so if anything happens to it, it won’t be the end of the world.
Functional Features:
What truly sets the Moterm cover apart are the pockets. The side pockets offer enough space for storing extras like stickers, washi tape samples, or receipts, making it a portable planner station. The pen loop is also handy, so I never have to search for my favorite writing tool. The Leuchtturm 1917 pen loops have always been my favorite, but it seems less wasteful to have a built-in pen loop into the cover. The two bookmarks with charms are a thoughtful addition—I use them to mark my current week and the section where I do my journaling.
Size & Fit:
The B6+ size is slightly larger than the planner, allowing for a snug but not too tight fit. The planner fits perfectly inside, and the extra room ensures that even with my added pages and pen, it doesn't feel overstuffed. I also have a jelly cover over my Sterling Ink planner. It took a little maneuvering, but I was able to fit the planner with the clear cover into the front pocket to close the way I wanted it to all the way.
Final Thoughts on the Cover:
It’s not just protective; it's functional. The thoughtful design features make it much more than a simple cover. It's also a stylish addition to my planner, with enough extras to enhance the entire planning experience. I can see how I may not like that the clasp will have a harder time closing with the chunkier my planner gets, but overall, I really like the ability to have all of my planning needs in one spot that is ready to go anywhere.
Final Thoughts
The combination of the Sterling Ink B6 Undated Common Planner and the Moterm B6+ planner cover has truly streamlined my planning and writing processes. The planner offers both structured planning and blank pages for reflection, while the cover ensures everything stays protected and organized. Together, they make a beautiful, functional pair for anyone who loves planning and journaling on the go! The moral of the story here is keep trying new brands, new sizes, and new types of notebooks until you find something that really works with what you need in a planner and in life.
