The first week of working in a more structured routine means that we HAVE to start with identity work. I would do this type of activity if the kids were toddlers or in high school, and it seems even more important that this little one is my own. Anything that we are learning has to start with her interests. This week’s theme is a heartwarming topic that's close to every parent's heart: All About Me and Affirmations. I wanted to include the activities that we were going to focus on for the week and how they connect to each other. The goal is to keep those tiny hands busy but also lay the foundation for a strong sense of self-confidence and positivity. This post includes an overview of morning activities for Monday-Thursday. So, grab a cup of your favorite beverage, get ready to dive into the world of imaginative play, and let's celebrate our toddlers as the incredible individuals they are!

We read in the morning, around naptime, and at bedtime. I want to make sure that books that are surrounding this week’s theme are in the rotation. Here are some that I love:

  • My First I See You by Eric Carle

  • I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont

  • On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman

  • The Tree in Me by Corinna Luyken

  • Are Your Stars Like My Stars? by Leslie Helakoski and Heidi Woodward Sheffield

Monday

  • Mama and Me Yoga

  • Acrostic Name Work- I am going to spell her name down the page and we are going to write words that describe her. We are then going to use this as the background for her affirmations. The goal is to hang this on the refrigerator this week.

  • Affirmations Sticky Notes-After watching The Affirmations Song from Doggyland, we are going to add some affirmations around her Acrostic Name poster. These affirmations will be repeated throughout the week.

Tuesday

  • Mama and Me Yoga

  • My Favorite Things Craft-We got this idea from the library! We are going to make a paper chain with her favorite things to decorate her Acrostic Name poster.

  • Self-Portrait on Big Paper-Next up is a portrait with body-positive words and descriptions. We will hang this next to her Acrostic Name poster.

  • Sensory Table-Sink time! Going along the theme of her favorite things, we are going to pick out her favorite things, add them to her posters, and then play for a bit in the sink.

Wednesday

  • Dance Party

  • Fingerprint Drawing-I am excited to try out the No Mess! Color Wonder Mess Free Coloring Book Fingerprint Pad this week! Our fingerprints are unique to ourselves, so I am hoping that we can use some of the inspiration in the coloring book and also make our own art in the art book.

  • Family Paper Plates-We need to top off our Acrostic Poster and Self-Portraits with Family Paper Plates. The gist is to flip them over and draw and describe the people in our family. I’ll work through some of the words with our little one, and then let her decorate.

Thursday-Flex Day

Anything that doesn’t get done for the week goes here! We are going to wrap everything up with the Affirmations Book from Sensory Laine.
